With the beginning of Spring Break, we see the end of March.
Here are some pictures from our celebrations of Music in Our Schools Month in March.
Each project prompted the students to reflect on why they love music and how fortunate we are to have it taught to us in school each day. I was so proud of some of the responses that this reflection brought out.
...And I think we did a pretty good job of adding some color to our Music Hallway! :)

Music In Our Schools Month
March is nationally recognized Music In Our Schools Month. The National Association for Music Education sponsors and supports this month of engaging educators, students, and communities from around the country in promoting the benefits of high quality music education programs in schools.
Here are just a few activities that Ms. Klumb's elementary music classes will be participating in this month:
Staff Guessing Game:
Various members of the staff of MLE were sent and asked to complete a four question survey containing questions about their favorite types of music and their musical involvement. These completed surveys will be collected and posted throughout the music hallway. Students can stop and read through the surveys and make their best guess at which staff member filled it out.
This activity is a great way to show that music is alive in many lives, including homeroom teachers, para professionals, administration, and music teachers alike!
GIVE MUSIC A HAND!:
My goal is to cover the Music Hallway with all things Music throughout this month. One activity to help with that will be a "Give Music a Hand" Display. Each K-1 student will trace their hand and carefully cut it out on colored paper. Students will then be asked, "What do you love about music?". Students will then answer this question by writing it on their hands and decorating them to be displayed down the hallway for all to see and enjoy.
Picture Perfect:
Some of our 2nd and 3rd graders will be asked to complete the following sentence "Music Makes Me __________", the theme of MIOSM 2015. Each student's picture will be taken and their word will be printed below their face and displayed in the music hallway.
Look for all of these displays and MORE as the month of March progresses and my music classes celebrate Music in our Schools Month 2015! And don't forget to stop back in each week to view pictures from the celebration!
